Substitute Teacher
Carrollwood Day School is looking for positive and energetic people to join our Substitute Teachers team in each of our divisions: Early Childhood (age two through Kindergarten), Lower School/Elementary (1st grade through 5th grade), Middle School (6th grade to 88th grade) and Upper/High School (9th grade to 12th grade). Well qualified candidates will be reliable, have classroom experience, and eager to engage with and guide diverse groups of students from day to day. Must be willing and able to model and maintain behaviors consistent with the CDS mission and policies of the school.
This is an hourly on-call/as needed part-time position. Guaranteed shift minimum.
Carrollwood Day School ( http://www.carrollwooddayschool.org) is an independent school in North Tampa, FL serving students from age two through 12th grade.
Job Responsibilities:
- Carry out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher
- Maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, appropriate to the academic and social-emotional development of the students, and to minimize distractions
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans
- Employ appropriate instructional and classroom management methods and skills
- Maintain a neat and orderly classroom
- Take and report attendance in accordance with school procedures
- Ensure that students are never left unattended or unsupervised
- Perform additional duties usually required of the absent teacher (e.g. lunchroom duty, etc.)
- Be prepared for and implement emergency evacuation and/or lockdown procedures as needed
- Model and adhere to behavioral expectations for CDS students
- Monitor classroom if a teacher is teaching remotely
- Be a team player; cheerfully participate in and/or assist with other duties and routines regularly part of a school environment
- Meet regular and timely attendance requirements
- Adhere to School policies as described in the Employee Handbook and other materials
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Full-time teaching experience is highly desirable
- Experience teaching children in a classroom setting is preferred
- Effective and respectful class management skills
- Effective written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Strong collaborative skills and eagerness to work with colleagues
- Proficiency in the Google suite of products and classroom technology
- An understanding of the academic, social, and emotional development of school aged students
- Strong understanding and utilization of appropriate customer service skills within an independent school environment
- Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including last minute assignments
- Ability, willingness, and judgment to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with all constituents in a school environment
- Enthusiasm and commitment to the vision and mission of the School
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.65 - $17.85 per hour
