ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for blood draws, processing, and distribution of clinical laboratory specimens for testing.
Sends specimens to contracted reference laboratories as needed.
Performs clerical duties associated with the operation of the Laboratory.
Assures correct specimen is collected and maintains specimen integrity until testing occurs.
Ensures adequate charging and billing entries of all tests via EMR and all necessary systems.
Prioritizes specimen collection and delivery to minimize the complete testing cycle; responds to requests for specimen collection in the prescribed time after being notified (STAT – 5 minutes, ASAP – less than 30 minutes, Routine – less than 1 hour, Timed – within 10 minutes of designated collection time).
Recognizes and resolves errors in specimen collection, testing and reporting, and resulting, whether directly involved or observed.
Responsible for daily maintenance and quality control.
Acts as a resource for clinical staff regarding specimen and test information.
Reports to work in a timely manner and adheres to policies, procedures, and processes.
Performs other job duties as needed and/or as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School graduate or equivalent experience is required.
Basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office suite is required.
Must be able to effectively communicate in English via verbal and written means.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Phlebotomy certification is preferred.
BLS certification is required upon hire.
