Position: Shipping Manager
Location: Lavonia, GA
Job Purpose:
The Shipping Manager is a critical member of the manufacturing and transportation team. Duties include supporting internal and external customers in day to day operations management, coordinating activities consistent with the company’s established goals, objectives and policies. Support company operations by maintaining office systems and working with transportation/logistics leadership team.
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Plan and implement overall shipping strategy confirming all orders are loaded and shipped in a timely fashion ensuring on-time delivery.
- Use shipping software to organize and prioritize shipping activities making sure trailers are loaded properly according to company policy.
- Oversee the whole shipping process, making sure all packing materials are organized and prepared per company guidelines.
- Maintain shipping KPIs and goals ensuring the correct number of loads and trailers are shipped daily.
- Suggest solutions for process optimization to ensure safety goals and maximum amount of trailers are loaded properly.
- Inspect labels, Vin’s and barcodes to ensure accurate shipping.
- Supervise and oversee shipping team members and loading crews. Build out and manage shift schedules and labor requirements.
- Support and control shipping and distribution cost.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders (such as manufacturing, vendors, purchasing managers, suppliers etc.)
- Identify shipping issues and implement corrective solutions in a timely manner.
- Oversee shipping activities, keeping shipment records and resolve damages and discrepancies with customers or vendors.
- Create and present reports for upper management.
Professional Experience and Qualifications:
- Education/Training: BA/BS in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, Business or related field or equivalent shipping experience.
- 10 plus years of manufacturing/shipping experience with a focus on collaborative relationship building, customer service, and complete supply execution with industry-leading companies manufacturing and distribution. Prior experience working in fast paced manufacturing, purchasing, logistics environment is highly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills required.
- Ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment; excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills required.
- System Experience: Working with but not limited to TMS software, PeopleNet, Inbound/Outbound routing software, Excel, PowerPoint and other Supply Chain Modeling Software Solutions preferred.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
Qualifications include:
- Current COT employees must have 91 days employment/seniority and be in good standing
with COT attendance and all other policies.

Normal Hours of Work
- Dayshift. Must be flexible and willing to work the demands of the department which are subject to evenings, weekends, holidays.
- Some travel required – limited to 50%.
