What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver Dispatcher/ Load Planner position at Carry On Trucking?
To plan a fleet of trucks/trailers/drivers to ensure optimum productivity, service levels and revenue, as well as, understanding and meeting the needs of our customers and drivers.
Responsibilities:
High level of customer service to assigned area and establish a good working relationship with each Hub Manager, Driver Manager and drivers
Communicate effectively and professionally with assigned customer service personnel on all levels while developing positive and solid relationships to enhance growth
Ensuring optimum driver/unit utilization and performance in generating revenue
Complying with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, namely Hours of Service
Planning drivers/equipment via TMW, accurately and timely
Responsible for coordination of outbound and inbound freight in operating area
Planning all available loads on available load board that are scheduled for next day pick up and/or delivery
Loads that are moved back to an “available status” need to be investigated as to why moved back to “available status” and re-planned for timely pick up/delivery
Accountable in making sure that drivers are planned and have accurate and timely information for pickup and delivery.(Dates/times of pick up/delivery accurate; BOL#’s, release #’s, PU #’s, Del #’s)
Communicating pick up and delivery exceptions with Hub Manager/Driver Manager/CSR and other hubs that are affected
Answering phones and communicating via email or other electronic means in a professional manner
Follow all Company policies, procedures, and processes
Speak knowledgeable to all employees, contractors and customers of Carry On Trucking.
Requirements:
Ability to work under stress while remaining professional at all times
Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented either verbally or in writing
Ability to recognize, evaluate and resolve problems using independent judgment
Minimum of 6 months of transportation/management experience preferred
Ability to communicate well with others
Above average writing skills and organizational skills
Ability to take direction and follow through
Map reading skills
Must have computer skills and general computer knowledge.
Detailed oriented
Be proactive instead or reactive
Is capable of working independently, without constant supervision
At least a two year degree is preferred or equivalent experience
Valid driver's license with an excellent driving history.
