Description
This is a full-time, FLSA non-exempt position with the Carson City Culture & Tourism Authority.
The main purpose of this position is to provide customer service to visitors and residents, visiting or calling the Visitor Center. This position will also provide accounting and clerical assistance. This position is a full time, benefited position.
This position requires working in the Visit Carson City office Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Individuals may choose between the following PERS Retirement plans:
Employer-Paid PERS $18.0288 - $24.0385 hourly / $37,499.90 - $50,000.08 annually
Employee/Employer-Paid PERS - $21.3962 - $28.5284 hourly / $44.504.10 - $59,339.07

- Visitor Center activities include:
- Perform customer service functions; greet visitors and ascertain the nature of their visit; provide visitors with information & directions to various destinations within Carson City & the region.
- Maintain supply of current pamphlets, brochures and maps; refill depleted supplies as needed; remove outdated materials for disposal.
- Provide current pamphlets, brochures and maps to lodging properties and industry partners as requested.
- Maintain the visitor statistics & provide quarterly reports.
- Input event information on the VisitCarsonCity.com website.
- Monitor the Visitor Center email account.
- Assist staff or related organizations with special events, familiarization (FAM) tours, trade shows, conferences, conventions, or workshops.
- Clerical, accounting and day-to-day include:
- Answer the telephone; provide information, guidance and assistance; take and relay messages or make direct calls to appropriate personnel; return calls as necessary.
- Participate in the processing of accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable by processing accounts payable invoices, revenue reports and bank deposits.
- Attend board meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
- Review finished materials for completeness, accuracy, format, and appropriate English usage.
- Receive, sort and distribute incoming mail to the appropriate staff.
- Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the agency's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of the Visit Carson City team.
- Operate computers and printers, in performing assigned tasks.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Typical Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience:
Equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED; AND two (2) years of clerical and or customer service experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.
Required Certificates, Licenses, And Registrations:
- Valid Driver's License
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment with visitors, the Visit Carson City team and tourism partners.
- Knowledge of modern office procedures, computer equipment and software, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Under General Supervision- Incumbents at this level are given assignments and objectives that are governed by specifically outlined work methods and a sequence of steps, which are explained in general terms. The responsibility for achieving the work objectives, however, rests with a superior. Immediate supervision is not consistent, but checks are integrated into work processes and/or reviews are frequent enough to ensure compliance with instructions.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
1. All Carson City Culture & Tourism Authority employees are "At Will" and as such may be terminated at any time for any reason, or for no reason.
2. Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
3. Any Carson City Culture & Tourism Authority employee may be required to stay at or return to work during emergencies to perform duties specific to this classification or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned response position. This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the incident and/or emergency.
4. Carson City Culture & Tourism Authority participates in E-Verify and will provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), with information from each applicant's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization.
