LEGAL ASSISTANT
Carson Fischer PLC, a highly-regarded Bloomfield Hills law firm, has a full-time opening for an experienced Legal Assistant to work across multiple practice groups including Litigation and Real Estate. We are seeking a candidate who is extremely organized, pays keen attention to detail, and has a superb commitment to client service. The right candidate can work independently, as well as with a team. This position requires a confident, proactive professional with solid administrative experience. A successful candidate will have a general knowledge of Michigan and Federal Court rules and procedures, along with extensive e-filing and docketing experience for those courts.
Requirements:
- 2 years’ experience as a Legal Assistant.
- Advanced skills in MS Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency with Adobe.
- Excellent grammar, proofreading, transcription, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with attorneys, staff members, and clients.
- Experience handling stressful situations in a professional, calm, and courteous manner.
- Experience working in a team-oriented service environment providing excellent client service.
- Ability to problem-solve and prioritize your workload in order of importance to meet deadlines.
Not required, but highly preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies or related field.
- A Paralegal degree or certification.
- Experience preparing attorneys for trials, arbitrations, and mediations.
- Proficiency with document management systems and case management programs.
You will:
- E-file documents with the court and manage the docketing for those matters.
- Schedule meetings, arrange for conference rooms, and arrange for meals if needed.
- Assist in preparing closing documents for clients.
- Proactively manage busy calendars, prioritizing meeting requests with internal and external groups.
- File documents with State of Michigan agencies and county Register of Deeds.
- Independently use sound judgment and initiative to develop project timelines and plan ahead to meet those timelines.
We offer excellent benefits. Your salary will be commensurate with your experience within the range of $60,000 to $65,000.
