Who We Want
The Director of Finance will oversee the daily accounting and finance operations for the Carson Family Office, which oversees a diverse and unique set of business and personal family interests, providing critical operational and financial management support to help manage these business, personal and charitable interests.
This position will work collaboratively to help ensure all financial transactions, policies and procedures are consistent with the Family Office’s strategic plan, core values and guiding principles, including a “best in class” mindset. The Director of Finance should develop into a key trusted family advisor.
What To Expect
- This position is a “hands-on” financial role which will encompass a variety of disciplines, including : fund and general accounting, financial and investment reporting, financial and investment analysis, tax and special financial, estate planning or risk mitigation projects, human capital management, and information technology administration
- This position is responsible for the family office’s day-to-day accounting, financial analysis, investment and net worth reporting, and overall cash management
- This role will prepare and manage all accounting and reporting tasks for multiple financial and investment entities including annual budgets, financial statements, operational reports, investment analysis, and will work closely with executives on special projects
- Responsible for human capital management of the Family Office, including outsourced HR selection and management of payroll, benefits, and administration; hire, manage and mentor team members as needed
- Provide guidance and leadership for the information technology systems being used by the firm, ensuring the platform is designed and administered in a manner which is consistent with the stated goals and objectives
- Evaluate and periodically review insurance providers and policies to ensure that appropriate types and levels of coverage are in place
- Willingness and desire to build and scale infrastructure required to establish and operate a family office including accounting, valuation, reporting and customer service
- Evaluate, strengthen and review internal control policies, guidelines and procedures
- Critical tasks will include financial statement preparation in accordance with GAAP, valuation and ownership reports, reporting on operating metrics, bank reporting, cash management and cash flow forecasting and budgeting, tax planning, and asset reporting including investment performance reporting
- Compile and communicate needed information to outside tax, legal and audit relationships
- Aid principals in the oversight and administration of key financial matters, including investment portfolio file management, investment performance measurement, trust administration, capitalization charts, cash management and treasury functions, and insurance coverage
- Assist with such tasks as the coordination of personal property management and maintenance
- Prepare all compliance information required by banking institutions (W-9, W-8BEM, KYC, CRS etc.)
- Some responsibilities will fluctuate according to the current interests, needs, and investment focus of the family
