Summary
Under the general direction of the IT Director and the IT Manager of Infrastructure and Operations, the IT Technical Services Supervisor plans, organizes, and oversees, all work assignments and performance of the Application Analyst and System Administrator teams, and the applications the team supports. This position supervises the development, installation, and maintenance of the applications supported. The IT Technical Services Supervisor oversees a diverse team of internal and external staff dealing with enterprise clinical, ancillary, technical infrastructure, and business applications. This position is responsible for the management of proper levels of security through patches, malware management, and policy design and implementation. This position develops and implements department operating standards and procedures, and serves as a member of a strategic IT department management team.
Responsibilities
o Directs activities of the application analysts and system administrator teams, both employees and contracted staff, including work allocation, training, and problem resolution.
o Utilizes the IT ticketing system to manage and assign IT requests to the appropriate member of the Application Analyst and/or System Administrator teams, validating capacity and expertise align to the assignee.
o Utilizes the IT ticketing system to ensure IT standard work for IT ticket management is followed, and removes barriers to successful completion with IT team members, external and internal employees, and IT leadership where necessary.
o Assists the IT Director and IT Manager of Infrastructure & Operations in administering human resource functions including staffing, scheduling, orientation, training and performance evaluation; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
o Oversees and manages the installation of new, or rebuilding of existing, servers and configures hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc., in accordinace with healthcare technology industry standards, project and operational requirements.
o Manages the process of identifying service gaps or workflow issues and their proposed solutions. Oversees the process of advising on alternatives and implications of new or revised computer systems/applications technology.
o Manages and coordinates the analysis, design, programming, timely implementation, and testing of application projects.
o Coordinates recommendations for application improvements with vendors.
o Oversees the System Administrators’ responsibilities of performing daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled tasks.
o Prepares and gives presentations to IT management and end-users when needed.
o Acts as a supporting leader to the IT Manager of Infrastructure and Operations as part of the Technical Estimation Team (TET). Specifically, this position is accountable to TET documentation management, review and validation of all technical project requirements, ensuring the project’s scope is in line with the organization’s strategic goals, as defined by Executive and Planning Governance committees.
o Provides shared on-call IT leadership support and problem resolution to all IT teams.
o Maintains current knowledge of relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
o Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
o Bachelor degree in business, healthcare administration, technology, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and progressive work experience in healthcare technology.
o Three (3) years supervisory experience leading diverse cross-functional teams.
o Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise
o Must be able to independently evaluate and interpret end user information requirements, and to develop appropriate systems and/or applications solutions.
o Must be able to to independently plan, design, coordinate installation, test, and modify complex systems and subsystems.
o Must have exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal skills essential to establish and maintain good working relationships with both technical and non-technical staff, including the ability to communicate well with a wide variety of users, of very differing levels of IT skills.
o Must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of healthcare enterprise application systems.
o Must be a self-starter with the ability to successfully work in a multi-tasking, priority-driven environment.
o Must possess strong problem solving, decision making and analytical skills .
