Summary
This position is responsible for reviewing and performing clinical screening and oversight of all potential inpatient and outpatient admissions before surgery. The goal is to prevent unnecessary cancellations day of surgery by assessing the patient's fitness for surgery and anesthesia, integration of necessary testing, facilitating access to consultative services and compilation of a complete chart for day of surgery. The nurse assists physicians and the interdisciplinary team to provide the patient with the appropriate level of services required, based on the patients clinical needs. The nurse will facilitate the timely and safe delivery of these services to the patient at the most appropriate level of care. Completes admission reviews for the patient population. This patient has limited patient contact, high telephone and internal department contact.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate from a school of nursing.
- Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Nevada or current interim permit.
- Current CPR certification.
- Three to Five years clinical nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting.
Preferred:
- Knowledge and understanding of InterQual criteria.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Case management and surgical experience.
- Fluency in Spanish.
