Summary
The Clinical Informatics Analyst is responsible for analyzing clinical workflows and understanding policies, procedures, and constraints across inpatient, ambulatory, and ancillary support areas within the Epic application. This role ensures workflows align with Epic best practices to improve efficiency and patient care. The analyst provides detailed support for tickets submitted through the organization's system and participates in the build, test, and support phases of Epic. As a liaison between end-users, leadership, and University of Utah analysts, the Clinical Informatics Analyst ensures effective communication and exceptional customer service while optimizing clinical operations and supporting Epic application use.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with health system users to identify service gaps or workflow challenges within the Epic application, proposing innovative solutions that add value. Provides guidance on alternatives and evaluates the impact of new or updated systems and technology.
- Collaborates with third party support as needed.
- Plans and coordinates the analysis, design, and testing of clinical projects.
- Coordinates recommendations for application improvements.
- Provides on-call support and problem resolution for Epic applications.
- Acts as module administrator for various functionalities with the Epic suite.
- Serves as the point of escalation for end-user issues after the Service Desk for Epic incidents and requests.
- Responsible for escalating issues and requests to third-party support when appropriate.
- Provides training to end-users for specific Epic applications.
- Provides in depth analytic results and recommendations to customers.
- Handles complex requests (i.e. evaluating new workflow proposals or new system integration) from business and clinical leaders.
- Collects / analyzes and presents information and makes concise recommendations to customers involving simple and complex problems.
- Provides attention to detail while driving forward organization processes, including during times of multiple assignments or projects.
- Leads and proactively identifies resolutions to business and clinical needs.
- Leads small to medium size projects in order to meet business and clinical goals / needs within the organization and to ensure that they are completed in a timely manner.
- Attends various IT and administrative meetings to obtain information and provide status reports.
- Acts as the specialist on business and clinical matters that affects the individual departments and / or the organization as a whole. Performs other related duties as assigned.
