Summary
The Epic Training Specialist, under the direction of the Director of Clinical Informatics, is responsible for the design, development and delivery of EHR training to employees. Training includes, but is not limited to, the Epic EHR system other EMR / EHR systems, and relevant applications. This position works closely with Clinical Informatics and with clinical departments to assess training needs, monitor program effectiveness and evaluate the need to change program. This position uses a variety of training materials and requires continuous expertise on subject matter.
Responsibilities
- Develop lesson plans, training exercises and aids, reference documents, evaluation tools, and online training materials.
- Supports the development and customization of systems. Provides feedback on system quality and features.
- Assists in developing and translating operational workflows into the education and training process.
- Assists management in the development and deployment of department and organizational training plans.
- Conducts training of institutional systems and related processes.
- Provides on-site user support, troubleshoots user problems.
- Responds to phone calls, email inquiries, and trouble tickets from users on a variety of training and application topics.
- Conducts organizational and business unit needs assessments.
- Works with all clinical, business and IT constituents in a positive, supportive, and collaborative manner.
- Collaborate with Clinical Informatics partners who support EMR / EHR system optimization, rounding, tickets, and education assistance as needed.
- Assesses effectiveness of program and employee training needs, maintains records of training records, and recommends improvements. Tracks and reports on participation and results.
- May create training calendars, coordinate internal and external trainers, and ensure appropriate materials are available for training.
- May facilitate delivery of training by reserving and setting up needed audiovisual equipment and training rooms- virtual and physical; scheduling training times with attendees; preparing and distributing training aids such as handouts; and performing other related tasks.
- Works in conjunction with Human Resources, department leaders, new hires and transferring employees to ensure appropriate training is received.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
o Two (2) years of experience with Epic EHR
o MS Office proficiency
o Attention to detail, process driven with the ability to handle multiple assignments
o Understanding of basic medical terminology
o Bachelor's Degree in in education or health related field
o Two (2) years of experience training or education
o Three (3) years of experience in healthcare setting
o Epic certifications
