Summary
An Apprentice Nurse (AN) is an employee who is currently enrolled in a pre-licensure Registered Nurse (RN) program in Nevada. The AN works with a Registered Nurse Preceptor providing nursing care following the Nevada State Board of Nursing approved Apprentice Nurse skills list. As the AN progresses through their nursing program, their ability to perform more of the approved skills increases. The AN Program offers students the opportunity to practice their clinical skills and to acclimate to the role of the licensed nurse. A students eligibility to participate in the AN program ends upon graduation or failure to progress through their program for any reason.
Qualifications
Required
- Current enrollment in a Nevada program of nursing with a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0 or higher.
- Original evidence of current enrollment will be by official school transcript.
- Ongoing verification for final semester may be by school transcript and / or official letter from the program's Academic Dean.
- Current AHA Basic Life Support Certification.
