JOB SUMMARY
The ADAS Calibration Technician is responsible for diagnosing, calibrating, and ensuring the proper functionality of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in vehicles post-collision repair. This includes working with sensors, cameras, and radar systems to confirm that all ADAS components are aligned with manufacturer specifications and are functioning properly to ensure vehicle safety and compliance. Additional duties include ensuring proper documentation of calibration results and collaborating with other departments to ensure a seamless repair process.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform diagnostics, calibration, and testing of ADAS components including cameras, radar, sensors, and other driver assistance technologies.
- Utilize specialized ADAS calibration tools and software to calibrate systems to OEM specifications.
- Ensure that all calibration and diagnostic reports are accurately recorded and stored in the shop's management system.
- Communicate effectively with the production team and service advisors regarding calibration status and required repairs.
- Follow all manufacturer guidelines and CARSTAR procedures for calibration and testing of ADAS systems.
- Identify and address any technical issues with ADAS components, referring complex issues to the service manager or manufacturer when necessary.
- Work with vehicle repair teams to ensure ADAS components are properly installed and aligned before calibration.
- Stay current on the latest ADAS technologies and manufacturer-specific calibration requirements.
- Maintain and troubleshoot calibration equipment, ensuring that tools and software are functioning correctly.
- Perform pre-repair inspections to assess ADAS functionality and assist in determining the necessary repair procedures.
- Collaborate with the estimators and technicians to ensure all calibration needs are addressed in a timely manner.
- Complete quality control checks on ADAS systems post-repair to ensure vehicles meet manufacturer and safety standards.
- Adhere to safety protocols and ensure a clean and organized work environment.
- Attend daily meetings to discuss calibration updates and priorities with the production team.
- Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- 2 years of experience working with ADAS systems, calibration, or automotive diagnostics, preferably in a collision repair environment.
- Certification or training in ADAS calibration systems (e.g., Bosch, Autel, or other relevant certifications) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle electronics, sensors, and ADAS technologies.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and software related to ADAS calibration.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to vehicle safety systems.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; automotive or technical certification preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Ability to receive direction and work well with others in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
- Must be able to work the following days and hours:
- Monday – Friday (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., edit as necessary)
- Every other Saturday (8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., edit as necessary)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, squat, and pull.
- Extended periods of standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping.
- Carry and lift heavy objects (up to 50lbs).
