What are the responsibilities and job description for the Auto Body Paint Helper position at CARSTAR First Choice Auto Body?
Carstar Collision Center has an immediate job opening for an Auto Painter Helper to efficiently prepare vehicles for painting in cooperation with the Auto Painter to ensure efficient workflow. Duties may include sanding and buffing and maintenance of paint booth and workspace. Auto Painter Helpers will be required to repair vehicles thoroughly, safely. The role focuses on assisting experienced painters with tasks such as taping, sanding, and painting, while ensuring quality work on plastic bumper covers
Duties
- As an Auto Body Painter Helper, you’ll be responsible for managing paint preparations and follow work order for all operations listed
- You’ll operate with variety of hand and power tools
- Complete all paint preparation processes for vehicles according to factory specification including the direction of the mentoring Paint Technician and by following the written repair order
- Assist Paint Technician in pre-op by preparing spray-out panels to determine blend needs and assist in sanding and buffing to ensure the paint finish meets quality standards
- Maintain a line of communication with Paint Technician and Production Manager for the status of assigned vehicles and assisting in problem solving to keep all vehicles on schedule for on-time delivery
- Follow vendor procedures to maintain all tools and equipment, including maintenance of paint booth and booth filters and maintains a clean and organized work-space
- Utilize air sanders, spray guns, sanding blocks, etc. in order to complete quality work
- Review estimate to ensure all operations listed have been completed and verify the panel/parts to be painted
- Cleaning, waxing, polishing and refurbishing vehicles
- Verify repaired areas are finished to Caliber standards
- Identify all areas of the repair that may require additional corrosion protection (Hidden welds, etc.)
- Ensure that all paint operations are complete, all masking is removed, and all prior paint-related disassembly has been reassembled prior to returning the vehicle to the body technician
- Comply with all company safety rules, guidelines and standards
- Other duties as assigned
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
Schedule:
