Production Team Lead

Job Overview
Carstens Industries, a leading Fiberglass & Composite Manufacturer located in Melrose, MN is seeking a Production Team Lead. This on-site position will be responsible for the quality and productivity of designated departments, as well as departmental safety. The Team Lead position will be accountable for ensuring that project milestones are met and are within all quality perimeters. Additionally, the Team Lead position will monitor and evaluate employee performance, participating in coaching and mentoring of all employees in their departments.

Key Responsibilities:

·Process Improvement – Identify opportunities to enhance production processes, optimize production times, and reduce waste. Maintain list of research/development projects to be utilized as workflow allows.

· Safety –Ensure adherence to all safety protocols. Identify and implement needed improvements or process changes to ensure the safety and productivity of all employees.

· Leadership & Team Building-Identify performance metrics and training needs. Facilitate and ensure adequate training is provided. Facilitate employee performance evaluations. Document personnel or performance issues and participate in Employee Review Board. Maintain list of larger scale training goals to be utilized as workflow allows.

· Documentation & Reporting – Ensure accurate completion of time studies. Maintain production reports as requested. Ensure completion of daily/weekly safety and environmental inspections.

· Collaboration – Work closely with other team leads, quality assurance and other departments to ensure smooth facilitation between departments. Request and allocate personnel as needed to maintain consistent production.

· Time Management- Effectively prioritize tasks to meet tight production schedules and deadlines.

· Production Monitor workflow, equipment, and materials to identify and resolve production bottlenecks. Ensure project milestones are met. Participate in production as necessary. Relay mold repair/maintenance needs to appropriate department. Ensure raw material needs related to current and upcoming orders are forwarded to Purchasing Dept.

· Communication Enable effective communication between management and operators. Communicate production and performance issues to management along with options for resolution. Clearly convey expectations, instructions, and feedback.

· Departmental Scheduling-Approve/deny time off requests in collaboration with Tech Lead.

· Departmental Development Help develop job descriptions and skills matrix for department. Participate in optimizing departmental divisions as well as building layout to best align with workflow and efficiency.

· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

· Ability to organize and prioritize.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
