The BUYER / PLANNER will be responsible for ensuring the timely procurement of materials and services to support our production schedule. You will work closely with suppliers to negotiate pricing and delivery terms and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure inventory levels are optimized. Your attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities will be critical to your success in this role.
What youll do as a Buyer / Planner :
- Utilize MRP, customer POS data, and internal forecasts to plan Raw Material & Finished Goods purchases.
- Maintain inventory on all products to support the forecasted demand / production.
- Control total inventory amount to align with department objectives for dollar thresholds, and average days on hand targets.
- Report on excess and obsolete inventory on a quarterly basis.
- Proactively manage all open purchase orders with suppliers, ensuring the scheduled ship dates are met.
- Process MRO requests for the Operations team.
- Monitor supplier performance and communicate areas for improvement to suppliers.
- Performs such individual assignments as manager may direct.
- Negotiate contracts and / or pricing with vendors.
- Communicate with Accounts Payable as needed and resolve any issues in a timely fashion.
- Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
- Work with internal customers to understand the manufacturing process, and this roles responsibility in ensuring its success.
- Address and resolve incoming material issues with suppliers.
- Identify and implement LEAN initiatives to drive savings.
