SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION
- The home health aide is a paraprofessional member of the home care team who works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Therapist and performs various personal care services as necessary to meet the client’s needs. The home health aide is responsible for observing clients, reporting these observations and documenting observations and care performed. Responsible for handling and serving clients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort. The home health aide will be assigned in a manner that promotes quality, continuity and safety of a client’s care.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1. Meets the training requirements in accordance with State and Federal laws.
- 2. One year Home Health Aide experience preferred.
- 3. Possess and maintains current CPR certification.
- 4. Has ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given.
- 5. Computer literate with working knowledge of Windows/MS Office applications. Able to type at least 25 words per minute.
- 6. Is self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision.
- 7. Has empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired.
- 8. Is flexible and cooperative in fulfilling role obligation.
- 9. Demonstrates maturity and ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
- 10. Possess and maintains good physical stamina and mental health. Presents a pre-employment health clearance, including a negative TB skin test and/or negative chest x-ray and other tests required by Agency (i.e., negative drug screen and/or by state statute.)
- 11. Licensed driver with automobile that is in good working order and insured in accordance with the Agency requirements; have proof of insurance.
- 12. Demonstrates tact, patience and good personal hygiene.
