The Role
As an Educational Interpreter Substitute at Carter Hears!, you’ll help us bridge gaps and ensure students with hearing loss have access to their education in their preferred mode of communication. Your role is vital in interpreting academic content, social interactions, and environmental information in alignment with each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Key Responsibilities
- Classroom Interpretation: Provide accurate and developmentally appropriate interpretation of classroom instruction.
- Social & Environmental Interaction: Facilitate communication during social interactions and in various environments.
- Student Support: Monitor student comprehension, provide feedback to teachers, and assist with hearing technology as needed.
What We’re Looking For
We're seeking multiple individuals to help us fill substitute requests from our districts. Locations in South Carolina include, but are not limited to Greenville, Aiken/Edgefield, and Columbia. Ideal candidates will possess:

Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience: Prior experience in educational interpreting.
- Clearances: Ability to pass a background check, maintain liability insurance, and provide proof of a TB Test.
