Assembler

Immediate 1st shift Assembly opening with an established, family-oriented company, Carter Manufacturing! Located in beautiful Grand Haven, Carter Manufacturing specializes in manufacturing high precision bearings for both standard and specialized applications. The successful candidate will ensure that all bearing parts fit correctly and are suitable for the final product. The goal is to produce complex outputs by putting together smaller components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Read and comprehend instructions and blueprints and follow established procedures
• Take precision measurements to ensure perfect fit of components
• Select or modify components according to measurements and specifications
• Align material and put together parts to build bearings
• Check output to ensure highest quality
• Keep records of production quantities and time
• Report on issues, malfunction or defective parts
• Good technical knowledge and possess great manual dexterity

Skills

• Assembly experience is preferred
• Technical knowledge and ability to read blueprints, drawings, instructions etc.
• Ability to operate wash tanks, hand presses, laser etcher, roller burnisher, and automatic press to assist in assembly operation.
• Ability to complete first-piece and quality inspections as required for each part, and record information
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Able to follow written and oral instructions
• Able to work independently or in a team environment
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical condition
• Quick learner
• Positive attitude

Education

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or 1-3 months experience in assembly and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Work Environment/Physical Demands

• Works near moving mechanical parts on a regular basis
• Moderate noise levels
• Fast-Paced
• Able to sit or stand for long periods of time
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
