The Animal Care Specialist position looks after and cares for the physical and mental health of homeless animals throughout their stay at Carteret County Humane Society. This includes maintaining a clean-living space, feeding, medicating, socialization, and assisting with adoptions. Animal Care Specialist are compassionate, kindhearted, problem solving, observant, people oriented, and reliable. This is a part-time position with 25-30 hours per week.

CCHS is a non-profit animal shelter in Newport NC. We accept all stray and owner surrender animals within Carteret County. We provided housing, medical care, and enrichment to the homeless animals within our county until adopted or reunited with his/her family. We have an active and supportive board of directors who care about the wellbeing of staff and animals. We offer training, a flexible schedule, and a supportive work environment. CCHS relies on reliable, compassionate staff members to help the lives of each animal that comes through our doors.
Qualifications
· Prior animal experience is beneficial, but we offer training upon hiring.
· Ability to lift and move 50#
· Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period.
· Ability to communicate proficiently with co-workers, managers, and potential customers.
· Ability to work independently and with a team.
· Must be passionate about animals and dedicated to improving their welfare.
· Must be able work weekends and holidays (these are rotated)
· Must be 18 years old.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $11.00 - $12.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
