Custodian
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. HS diploma or GED
2. Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment
3. Ability to work effectively with other people
4. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
5. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
6. At least one year experience in the housekeeping/cleaning field.
REPORTS TO: Head Custodian or Principal
SUPERVISES: N/A
JOB GOAL: To help maintain the physical plants in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use may be made of them at all times.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs tasks in scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, waxing and polishing floors in rooms, offices, hallways and offices.
- Washes windows, woodwork, walls and ceilings.
- Scrubs and cleans restroom fixtures and replenishes toilet tissue, paper towels and soap.
- Replaces light bulbs/tubes and heat-A/C filters.
- Empties wastebaskets and other containers.
- Moves office equipment and supplies as directed
- Picks up paper and other trash from school buildings and grounds.
- Reports to the principal any damage or needed repairs.
- Is physically able to perform manual tasks such as lifting at least 50 lbs., climb ladders and scaffolds, work in building crawl spaces, etc.
- Performs such other duties as assigned and required.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK: This is routine manual work in the cleaning of school buildings and administrative offices. Employees perform recurring tasks, under direct supervision, in accordance with established practices and cleaning schedules. Changes in work methods or procedures are specifically indicated by a supervisor and work is reviewed by personal, frequent inspection to assure completion of assignments in accordance with instructions and standards of cleanliness.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: To be determined by the Principal. Salary based on state salary scale for Custodians.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Custodians.
