TITLE: Mechanic II
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School graduate or GED with CDL license or ability to obtain one.
2. Three years experience at or above Mechanic I level. Preference will be given to experience in school transportation or heavy truck maintenance.
3. Demonstrate aptitude and competence for assigned responsibility.
REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor
SUPERVISES: N/A
JOB GOAL:
To work together with all other transportation personnel for a safe and efficient preventative maintenance program and the betterment of pupil transportation.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Communicates with bus drivers about their mechanical problems.
2. Completes assignments accompanied only by the results expected.
3. Directs and instructs lower level mechanics.
4. Locates and diagnoses any malfunction in the automotive system.
5. Removes and replaces damaged parts of vehicle bodies using acetylene or electric welding equipment as well as other repair equipment.
6. Maintains the required documentation on all repaired or replaced parts and labor.
7. Follows the guidelines for the established preventative maintenance program.
8. Other duties assigned by the transportation supervisor or designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
