DEFINITION OF POSITION
-
The Clinical Nurse Educatorcollaborates with the Department Director to assess, plan, intervene and evaluated educational needs of all staff in Surgical Services. This position will work closely with Workforce Development to ensure alignment of educational needs. This position will also provide 16 hours of direct patient care weekly as a registered nurse (RN).

QUALIFICATIONS

Professional
-
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.

BSN degree or appropriate level of experience in an educator role is required. Clinical education experience preferred.

BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.

Participation in continuing education programs. Compliant with Board of Nursing and hospital policy of continuing education hour requirements.

Broad knowledge of current trends and issues related to specialty clinical practice and health care.

Proven ability to work autonomously and in collaboration with other health care providers, students, instructors, and leaders.

National certification in area of specialty.

Membership in a professional organization.

Computer skills: knowledgeable and experienced in the use of Microsoft Office programs, Meditech and other related hospital information systems.

Current ACLS certification or completion of ACLS within 6 months of employment.
