- The patient safety observer is a member of the healthcare team. The observer is responsible for monitoring one or more assigned patients on a designated unit for a specific time period. The role of the observer is to monitor the patient for safety. Assist with room turnover, emptying of trash, linen changes, PPE restocking. Assist with patient transport. Support the department staff as a resource runner and delivering needed items between departments.
- Professional
- High school education or equivalent preferred.

- Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification preferred

- Frequent stooping, kneeling, reaching, bending, during 8-12 hour shift.
- Responding to sudden, unexpected movements of patients.
- Responding quickly and effectively to emergencies; i.e., chemical spills (medications, IV fluids), infectious exposures, patient contact, needles/syringes, waste handling (bodily fluids), medical equipment.
- Hearing and Visual Acuity Dexterity – Handwriting skills to facilitate documentation for patient care, handling of equipment, and laboratory specimens. Visual acuity/color perception that permits patient assessment, monitoring
