Responsible to Director of Cancer Treatment Services, the Chief Radiation Therapist, and the Radiation Oncologist

DEFINITION OF POSITION

The Radiation Oncology Therapist is responsible for administering radiation treatments to patients under the direction of the Radiation Oncologists.

QUALIFICATIONS
-
Professional
-
ARRT registered or registry eligible graduate of an AMA approved school of radiation oncology technology, having a working knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of a radiation oncology department.

The Radiation Therapist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.

Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span

Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status

Interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs

Provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
