CHMC -CTC Pharmacy-Oncology Pharmacy Technician - Full-time- Day Shift - 7:30a-4p -Requisition 8377
Pay Range: $17.45-$22.25 *
An Oncology Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the Pharmacist in preparing and distributing hazardous and non-hazardous medications, management of drug and IV compounding supply inventory, and routine disinfection and cleaning of the IV Room Suite. Must maintain an ability to perform work accurately with an emphasis on attention to detail. Oncology technicians must have a thorough knowledge of drug nomenclature and exhibit a comprehensive understanding of the potential adverse events associated with medication dispensing. All activities are performed under the supervision of a pharmacist in accordance with New York State and federal law.

Pharmacy Technician certifiction required before completion of 1950 working hours
Handling of Hazardous Drugs and USP 800 Certification
Pharmacy Technician Registration with New York State Board of Pharmacy required for compounding tasks and responsibilities
TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Proficient keyboarding and computation skills
Basic computer knowledge
Maintaining confidentiality of all patient information
Maintaining quality assurance and compliance with all regulatory agencies
Ability to implement and support procedures and programs pertaining to patient safety and security
Exhibit proficient communication skills and ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a variety of personalities
Ability to sustain attention to detail and accuracy as it pertains to the monitoring and documentation of information
Maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients
Maintaining sterility of the IV Clean Room Suite by following established daily and monthly cleaning and disinfection protocols
Familiarity with non-hazardous and Hazardous medications and the ability to differentiate between the two
Experience working with Closed-System-Transfer-Devices and an understanding of how these devices work to protect patient's and staff
Knowledge of and the ability to exhibit proper aseptic technique when performing IV compounding procedures
Exhibit the ability to perform proper garbing and hand hygiene procedures
Familiarity with sterile IV compounding standards set forth by USP chapter 800
Preferred:
Six to twelve months of hospital or community pharmacy experience
Three to six months of sterile IV compounding experience
