What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Professor, Nursing position at Carthage College?
The Nursing Department invites applications for two three-year renewable, non-tenure track nursing faculty generalist positions in the college's baccalaureate nursing (BSN) program starting August 15, 2025. The successful candidate(s) may provide instruction within the classroom, clinical, laboratory, and simulation settings and will be expected to participate in curriculum development and assessment of learning outcomes. Additional responsibilities include advising, accreditation activities, and committee work as assigned.
Duties:
- Assists nursing leadership in planning, implementing, evaluating, and revising the nursing curriculum, ensuring a relevant and cutting-edge curriculum.
- Teach courses as negotiated with nursing leadership.
- Makes recommendations to the team that support and enhance quality learning experiences for nursing students.
- Maintains area of clinical competence.
- Serves on departmental, divisional, and college committees.
- Engages in relevant community partnerships consistent with, support, and advance the College and department's mission.
- Additional relevant duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in nursing required.
- Holds a valid, unencumbered license to practice professional nursing in Wisconsin or eligible to obtain a Wisconsin license. Licensure in Illinois may be required.
- Experience teaching in a pre-licensure nursing program or coursework in nursing education principles and techniques preferred.
- Knowledge of teaching-learning principles.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Evidence of current clinical expertise.
- Certification (or eligibility for certification) in nursing specialty is desirable.
