Position: Transportation Coordinator
Term: Full-time, 213 Days
Classification: Classified, Non-exempt
Location: Transportation Department
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or Equivalent, Required
· Knowledge of K-12 School District and Transportation Operations, preferred
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs; experience using Frontline Applications, transportation software, and SisFin, strongly preferred
· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, positive communication skills, required

Position Summary:
This position supports the transportation department in managing daily operations and ensuring the safe and efficient transport of students. This role involves daily scheduling, roster updates, parent communication, absence management, dispatching communication, report monitoring, student enrollment data entry, and various clerical duties to enhance the effectiveness of the transportation services.

· Solve practical problems as needed to complete job duties.
· Read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, and handbooks and apply to job duties.
Essential Functions:
· Support the daily operations of the Transportation Department, assisting in assuring the safe and efficient transportation of students
· Maintain the daily bus driver schedule, ensuring all routes are adequately staffed
· Coordinate and communicate changes in schedules to drivers, school personnel, and parents as needed
· Maintain accurate student transportation rosters, including updates for new enrollments, withdrawals, and other changes in transportation needs
· Provide timely communication of roster changes to all relevant stakeholders
· Provide information about bus routes, schedules, and policies to parents and guardians
· Track and manage driver absences, ensuring adequate coverage and timely notification of changes to schedules
· Collaborate with the Director to arrange for substitute drivers as needed
· Assist with facilitating communication between drivers and the transportation office to ensure efficient operations
· Address any real-time issues or concerns that arise during transportation services
· Assist in monitoring and analyzing transportation reports, including ridership, efficiency, and incident reports
· Help prepare data for transportation meetings and evaluations
· Enter and update student enrollment information in transportation databases
· Ensure accuracy and timeliness of data entry to support effective routing and service delivery
· Perform general clerical tasks, including filing, data entry, and maintaining records related to transportation services
· Assist with the preparation of reports and documentation for transportation meetings and evaluations
· Support the Director in ensuring compliance with state and federal transportation regulations and safety standards
· Assist in the organization of safety training sessions and meetings for drivers and staff
· Assist with scheduling drivers for school activities and trips
· Communicate regularly with school officials to coordinate transportation needs and address any concerns
· Participate in meetings with the Director of Transportation and other school officials as needed
· Assist with special projects and initiatives within the transportation department
· Carry out all other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand or sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. The employee must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Conditions and Environment
The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active. Occasionally the individual will be required to work outdoors for short periods of time to perform such tasks as loading and unloading students from district transportation and supervising recess.
