Qualifications
- Ability to read and write to communicate and receive instruction, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification.
- IVP Fingerprint Card
- Monitors students to and from the school bus as well as on board the school bus to ensure appropriate behavior and the removal of safety hazards, which includes: securing students who required car seats or other restraints securely into the bus seat, escorting those students who need hand to hand delivery to an adult at the stops, monitoring behaviors, enforcing school bus rules and policies, intervening and defusing fights, and performing other related activities.
- Attends to minor medical needs of students on the bus.
- Reports violations of student behavior to the driver; alerts driver of incidents requiring emergency response or assistance. Reports all incidents to the Director of Transportation.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
- Responsible for:
- Assisting students to and from buses.
- Seating children in assigned locations on the bus.
- Assists driver in the loading and unloading of wheelchair bound students.
- Assist students in following the driver instructions.
- Closely supervising medically fragile special education students.
- Maintaining hygiene needs for special education students.
- Ability to maneuver physically disabled students.
- Maintains accurate records of all bus riders and student attendance.
- Maintaining confidentiality of all student records.
- Familiar and able to assist in evacuating a school bus.
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable Cartwright School District and departmental policies and procedures.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification.
- Safety procedures and guidelines
- Monitoring and redirecting children
- Using equipment such as first aid kits, hand-held radios, mops, thermometers, disinfectant machines, and other related items.
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
- Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
- Medium Work: Exerting up to 60 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Subjected to odors, chemicals, blood and other body fluids, extreme temperatures, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel.
