Cake Decorator Job Description:
Local Carvel franchise is looking to hire a skilled full or part-time Cake Decorator to design and decorate ice-cream cakes according to customers' specifications and preferences. Cake Decorator's responsibilities include taking customers' ice cream cake orders via in-person, phone, or online, recording instructions and special requests, providing suitable recommendations on cake decorations and designs, and packaging items. Should also be able to store all bakery products in accordance with proper product handling procedures to ensure freshness and prevent contamination.
Should keep abreast of the latest styles, techniques, and trends in cake decoration. Should be able to demonstrate creativity, attention to detail, and excellent customer service skills.
Cake Decorator Responsibilities:
- Consulting with customers to discuss desired ice cream cake designs and cake decorating ideas for specialty cakes.
- Designing and decorating ice cream cakes according to customers' specifications.
- Decorating regularly stocked ice cream cakes according to established store standards.
- Assisting staff with the production of regularly stocked ice cream products to include cakes, waffle cones, individual take-home, and novelty products.
- In-store customer counter service-producing various fountain items to include cones, sundaes, shakes, and dashers.
- Producing different colors of whip, gel, and cake fillings based on cake type and customer preferences.
- Ensuring that the display freezers and refrigerators are cleaned, polished, and fully stocked with cakes, novelty, and take-home products.
- Taking inventory of ice cream and decorating supplies and ordering new stock as required.
- Cleaning and sanitizing all work areas and ice cream decorating equipment.
Cake Decorator Requirements:
- College or High school diploma or GED.
- Cake decorating experience. A portfolio is requested.
- The ability to use various cake decorating instruments and tools.
- The ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work days, nights, and weekends.
- Detail-oriented.
- Artistic and creative.
- Basic numeracy skills. Computer skills preferred.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Managerial experience is preferred but not necessary.
- Salary commensurate with experience.
