What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Engineering/Land Surveying Intern position at Carver County?
This position will assist Public Works staff with different aspects field and office operations related to highway construction, land surveying, and other functions of Public Works. The position may be assigned to a single project or multiple projects over the course of employment and will be directed and supervised by either the Engineering or Surveying & Mapping departments of Public Works.Some of the following duties and responsibilities will be required depending upon the expected tasks as determined by the supervisor.
• Construction inspection assistance
• Field crew assistance
• Office staff assistance
• GPS/GIS field collection of PLSS data and Public Works asset inventory attributes• High school diploma or GED - preferably with some Civil Engineering or Land Surveying field experience or post-secondary education.
• A valid Minnesota driver license.All applications will be screened for minimum qualifications, scored and ranked. The highest ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for the scored oral examinations (interviews). Final selection for the position will include successful completion of oral interview(s), reference checks, background investigation, and pre-placement physical.
