What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Helper position at Carver County?
Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor and Senior Equipment Technician, the Shop Helper performs a variety of routine duties in the maintenance of all types of County vehicles and equipment. This position is responsible for the cleanliness of department vehicles and inspection for possible mechanical failure. The Shop Helper is also responsible for helping with routine maintenance of vehicles, including changing oil and repairing and/or replacing tires. Shop Helper will also be required to help maintain cleanliness of shop area.• Performs routine maintenance and repairs of county vehicles and equipment.
• Assist shop mechanics in day to day duties
• Washes exterior and interior of county vehicles.
• Transports vehicles to and from different locations for servicing.
• Performs other duties of a similar or comparable level.• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to work in shop environment around cars, trucks and heavy equipment
• Ability to work from 7 AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Friday. There may be times when the work shift may change due to special projects/needs
• A Valid Minnesota Driver's License.All applications will be screened for minimum qualifications, scored and ranked. The highest ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for the scored oral examinations (interviews). Final selection for the position will include successful completion of oral interview(s), reference checks, background investigation, and pre-placement physical.
