What You’ll Do:
Reporting to the Entertainment Production Manager and working under the guidance of Shift Leads, the Roaming Cast member’s role is to engage and entertain guests. As part of the Entertainment team, they bring Casa Bonita’s experience to life through puppet shows, suited character performances, and character portrayals. Cast members are assigned one or more roles based on their skills and suitability.
Responsibilities:
- Perform as an assigned character to entertain and engage guests.
- Deliver consistent, high-quality performances, following scripts, character guidelines, and direction from Entertainment Leadership.
- Maintain character integrity and energy throughout performances, using physical and improvisational skills.
- Engage guests through interactive storytelling, improvisation, and non-verbal communication.
- Participate in scripted and improvisational performances, including puppet shows and interactive in-restaurant experiences.
- Follow direction and feedback from Entertainment Leadership to ensure performance consistency.
- Attend all scheduled shifts, rehearsals, and meetings to maintain performance quality.
- Engage in warm-ups and skill-building activities to prepare for performances.
- Handle costumes, props, and set pieces with care to maintain quality and safety.
- Communicate scheduling conflicts, changes, or work-related issues to management promptly.
- Complete pre- and post-shift duties related to performance preparation and wrap-up.
- Adhere to all Casa Bonita Policies and Procedures.
- Perform Additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Must be 18 years
- Previous performance experience required (theater, improv, hosting, voice acting, puppetry, mascot or character acting).
- Strong improvisation and guest interaction skills.
- Ability to take direction and incorporate feedback.
- Commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and maintaining a positive guest experience.
- Applicants will be assigned one or more roles based on their skills and experience. Role-specific qualifications include:
- Puppeteer
- Familiarity with various puppetry styles, including trigger, rod, and Avenue Q-style puppets.
- Exceptional manual dexterity to operate puppets smoothly and realistically, perform scripted scenes with clear and expressive motion, synchronizing spoken words with puppet actions.
- Suited
- Comfortable performing in confined suited or mascot style costumes with limited visibility and mobility and is not claustrophobic or overly sensitive to heat.
- Strong non-verbal communication skills, conveying emotions and enthusiasm through physical gestures and expressions.
- Characters
- Ability to learn and portray standard characters, adhering to performance guidelines and maintaining the integrity of the character portrayal and immersive experience.
- Puppeteer
Preferred:
- Bilingual in Spanish
Physical & Environmental Demands:
- Physical stamina to perform in character roles, including wearing costumes and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a loud, distracting environment.
- Able to walk, stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8-10 hours per shift), including navigating inclines, declines, stairs, and tight spaces.
- Able to pivot, kneel, stoop, and move swiftly between standing and seated positions while maneuvering around groups of people without assistance.
- Reach with your hands and arms in any direction.
- Possess manual dexterity, gross motor skills, and fine motor control, with frequent use of both hands.
- Able to hear and respond to audio cues from performers, management, and sound technicians, including recognizing sound changes, monitoring audio equipment, and hearing emergency alarms or announcements.
- Possess both close and distant vision and be able to identify and distinguish colors.
- Able to work in high-volume, noisy environments typical of a restaurant and entertainment venue.
- Able to perform duties in varied lighting conditions, including low or subdued lighting.
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, visiting artists, and guests in dynamic and noisy environments, including live performances and crowded areas.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Able to work efficiently under pressure and at a fast pace.
- Must be comfortable engaging with the public and maintaining an energetic presence.
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on performance schedules.
