Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees, and maintaining compliance with applicable regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills and proficiency in accounting software to support our payroll operations. This person would also be our enrollment specialist, and would need to be detail oriented in making sure all files were in compliance.
Responsibilities
- Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain employee records related to payroll, including new hires, terminations, and changes in pay rates or deductions.
- Perform general ledger reconciliation to ensure all payroll transactions are accurately recorded.
- Prepare and analyze journal entries related to payroll expenses and liabilities.
- Utilize accounting software such as Paychex or Workday for payroll processing and reporting.
- Conduct audits of payroll data to identify discrepancies or errors, resolving issues promptly.
- Assist in the preparation of payroll reports for management review.
- Collaborate with HR to ensure proper documentation for employee benefits and deductions is maintained.
- Support the annual audit process by providing necessary documentation related to payroll activities
- Perform Enrollment procedure
- Make sure family files are accurate and families are enrolled in a timely manner
- Have all necessary documentation done prior to each family starting
- Be certain each family fee is correct
- Attend family file, enrollment trainings
- Keep up on any new legislation that affects CCTR contracts
- Qualifications
- Proficiency in accounting software and tools; experience with Paychex or Workday is a plus.
- Strong understanding of debits, credits, double entry bookkeeping, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Excellent 10-key typing skills for accurate data entry.
- Ability to analyze financial data effectively and provide insights as needed.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- Previous role is preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of relevant labor laws and regulations is advantageous.
- Extremely detailed oriented
