The job of Speech Language Pathology Assistant is done for the purpose/s of supporting the functions of the speech-language pathologist in assessing and documenting the speech, language, and general development skills of students with speech/language impairments and in following a prescribed individualized treatment plan to correct or improve speech/language deficiencies.
Responsibilities:
- Assists the speech-language pathologist with speech-language and hearing screening assessments, examinations, and testing (without clinical interpretation of results) and records speech, language, and swallowing irregularities as directed by the supervising speech-language pathologist
- Assists with informal documentation and departmental operations, as directed by the speech-language pathologist
- Documents or records information on the treatment, performance, progress, and discharge of students, and reports this information to the supervising speech-language pathologist
- Executes specific components of a speech and language program as specified in an individualized treatment plan composed by the speech-language pathologist
- Follows documented treatment plans or protocols developed by the supervising speech-language pathologist
- Implements augmentative or alternative communication methods and instruction, including automated devices, computer technology, and sign language, and teaching their use to students with little or no speech capability or who have limited English proficiency
- Performs clerical duties, as directed by the speech-language pathologist
- Collects data
- Exhibits compliance with regulations, reimbursement requirements, and speech-language pathology assistant's job responsibilities
- Performs checks and maintenance of equipment
- Supports the supervising speech-language pathologist in research projects, in-service training, and public relations programs
Qualifications:
- Speech-Language Pathology Assistant License
- Community College and/or Vocational School degree with study in job related area
- Fingerprint and Background Check Clearance
- Pre-employment proficiency test
- CPR/First Aid
- Valid Driver's License and Evidence of Insurability
This is a 10 month School Year position only.
Salary with Bachelor's degree - $50,009
Salary without Bachelor's degree - $47,840
