The job of Educational Assistant - Alternative Placement Setting is done for the purpose / s of improving students' success in the basic academics; monitoring students in a variety of settings; and relieving teachers of clerical tasks.
Essential Functions :
- Administers tests
- Confers with teachers and / or parents as may be required
- Implements instructional programs and lesson plans, (e.g. reading, math, language, comprehension, writing, computer, etc.)
- Instructs students (individual or small groups) (e.g. reading, math, spelling, self esteem, behavioral skills, daily living skills, etc.)
- Maintains classroom equipment, work area, students' files / records (e.g. clean up after various class projects, entering grades, adapting instructional materials, audiovisual equipment, etc.)
- Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. classrooms, rest rooms, hallways, cafeteria, labs, field trips, etc.)
- Participates in in-service workshops and training
- Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, copying, instructional materials, correcting papers, compiling lists, etc.)
- Picks up and / or delivers homework / assignments to students at home
- Responds to emergency situations, (e.g. injured student, fights, etc.)
- Supervises students performing school beautification
- Assists other personnel as may be required
Requirements :
Experience desired.
This is a 10 month School Year position only.
