Job Title:  Building Leader

Department: Casa Grande Union High School District

Reports To: Principal

FLSA Status: Exempt

Annual Stipend: $4000

 

Summary

 Department Chairs are the stewards of systemic reform and instructional leadership.  They must help focus attention on the vision, mission, and goals of the high school.  They are responsible for the smooth operation of their department.  Department Chairs should also serve as a conduit from administration to staff-communicating system practices and polices related to curriculum.  4 representatives from each site will be selected (1 for PACE). There will be duties required outside of the normal workday.

 

 This is a 3 year position, and then must re-apply.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may be carried out personally or through subordinate employees and include the followingOther duties may be assigned.

 

  • Reports directly to the principal
  • Is the leader for their departments professional learning community
  • Key communication link between the administration and faculty
  • interdependently to achieve common goals
  • Lead teams in preparing norms, agendas, chairing meetings, communicating between teachers and school administration.
  • Supports the administration in leading the PLC work
  • Provides support to department chairs, or teachers as needed.
  • Reviews and discuss schoolwide data
  • Enhance the capacity of their team to work
  • Build a guaranteed and viable curriculum with input from all teachers
  • Build learning cycles into the curriculum plan
  • Represents the school site by participating at district level Department Meetings provided by the Academic Department
  • Assist staff members in developing professional growth for the department and individual
  • Advocates for the school site
  • Other duties as assigned

Proactively interacts with employees at all levels, promoting effective communication throughout the District regarding the department/school activities.

Education and/or Experience                                                          

Bachelors degree or higher.

 

Language Skills                                                        

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general curriculum periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports and correspondence with parents, community and other agencies.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must hold a valid Arizona State Teachers certificate, Valid Fingerprint Clearance card is required.
