POSITION: Student Activities Assistant Principal

REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL:

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Valid Arizona Department of Education Principal Certificate (REQUIRED)
- Masters degree in administration or equivalent
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Knowledge of secondary school curriculum, English Learners, Exceptional Students, and Arizona State Education Laws
- Competent decision maker with excellent leadership skills
- Ability to work with staff, teachers and students at various educational levels in pursuit of equity and inclusion for all.
- Experienced leadership and organizational skills to perform coordination and evaluation of staff, teachers, and students.
- Works well with parents and colleagues.
- Skilled in preparing reports and monitoring progress of projects within the realm of responsibility

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Responsible for protecting the health and welfare of students.
- Makes recommendations for appropriate revisions of policies and rules affecting the student’s life in the school.
- Resolves all discipline problems in a fair and just manner, and maintains records of any disciplinary action taken.
- Assists in the interpretation of school and district programs, policies, and procedures to students, parents, staff, and community.
- Assists in developing and administering practices dealing with campus control and security.
- Assists with campus supervision.
- Works closely with staff to implement the Arizona State standards and elements of ACT, state assessment in various curriculums throughout the entire course offerings.
- Confers with parents, teachers, counselors, support service personnel, and students on matters of discipline and welfare.
- Responsible for attracting, retaining, and evaluating a qualified staff.
- Assists in assigning faculty to supervision of extracurricular activities.
- Supervises development, maintenance, and distribution of student calendars, handbooks, schedules, bulletins, and the like.
- Generally responsible for the following Site Programs: ESS, ELD, Early Childhood, CTE, Social Worker and communicates regularly with district Directors in these areas.
- Completed Assigned Teacher/Staff Evaluations and teacher walk-through observations with feedback.
- Supports Behavior Management and modifications of assigned grade level student discipline in support of the District Board approved policies.
- Creates quarterly discipline reports
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 12-month contract, Salary/Exempt position under FLSA. Placement on Administrative salary schedule by the Superintendent dependent upon education and experience

- Must pass Department of Public Safety Fingerprint clearance check.
- Must be United States citizen or have valid work visa at date of hire with the ability to maintain. All changes in visa status must be reported to Human Resources immediately. Photo identification and work visa, (if necessary), will be needed for fingerprint clearance card and I-9 documentation prior to first day of work.
EVALUATION:
- Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION:
- Proof of Mumps, Measles and Rubella, (MMR) vaccination.
- Valid government issued identification or current work visa with expiration date.
- Valid IVP Fingerprint card and background check
- Unofficial copies of transcripts will be accepted with applications, official transcripts will be due upon job offer*
* Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation, (word for word) by an acceptable translator. Additionally, each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited coursework by an acceptable agency such as those agencies certified by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, (NACES).
