What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer Coordinator position at CASA Hope for Children?
Position Summary: Coordinate the delivery of direct advocacy services to assigned youth in foster care and Order to Participate (OTP)/Court Ordered Services (COS) cases through the supervision and coaching of volunteer advocates. The Volunteer Coordinator will coach each assigned advocate in the provision of exceptional advocacy, ensuring adherence to the volunteer advocate roles job description and core duties. Supervision/Coaching:
· Support the direct advocacy for children in the child welfare system by coaching, training and supervising the volunteer advocates.
· Encourage Collaborative Family Engagement (CFE) activities on all CFE eligible cases.
· Provide information, resources, referrals to volunteers to empower them to provide exceptional advocacy.
· Responsible for identifying and advocating on behalf of the children assigned to the volunteer advocates regarding any issues arising from the case specifics.
· Communicate with your CASA volunteers and Program Director regarding case-related information in a timely manner.
· Review and provide constructive feedback on all court reports for appropriate information and reporting on the advocacy for the child. Submit all court reports to the Program Director for approval.
· Keep monthly checklists to meet contact log minimum standards.
· Encourage timely input of all notes from court, child visits, and other case-related meetings into database
· Implement ongoing and annual strength-based evaluations for volunteers.
· Coordinate volunteer support
· Assist with planning and implementation of monthly volunteer continuing education opportunities and volunteer recognition activities.
Case Management:
· Maintain knowledge of CASA standards, policies, and procedures, child placement options, and SSCC procedures
· Attend all court hearings, CFE meetings, and other case related meetings with the volunteer advocate. In the event the volunteer is unable to attend, attend all meetings in their place and provide representation of the CASA/GAL role.
· Provide timely accurate reports for submission to the court and to the other parties on the case.
· Provide notifications of meetings and court hearings to the volunteer advocate.
· Ensure accurate and timely update of documentation in database on assigned cases.
· Maintain up to date case files, includes progress notes, reports, motions, and correspondence.
· Promote and maintain professional relationships with other professionals.
· If a volunteer is unable to fulfill duties on a case, Volunteer Coordinator will serve on the case until the case can be reassigned to a new volunteer.
Additional Duties:
· Complete Pre-Service Training within 6 months of start date
· Assist with coordination of CASA staff coverage at all case-related hearings, meetings, recruiting, training, etc.
· Assist with volunteer recruitment events and activities
· Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Program Director
Required Skills & Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
· Understanding of CASA program including its purpose and functions
· Experience in volunteer supervision
· Ability to interact with diverse populations
· Exemplary interpersonal skills
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Flexible schedule based on agency and volunteer needs; included but not limited to nights and weekends as needed
· Availability for occasional overnight travel.
· Computer literate with Microsoft Office and database management programs
· Strong time-management
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· Ability to pass a background check.
· Must have valid drivers license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.50 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
