CASA & CASA IN ACTION SYNOPSIS:

CASA has a sister organization, CASA in Action, a separate, but related, nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code.  Although CASA and CASA in Action share a common goal of supporting immigrants and low-income people in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Georgia, they are separate organizations with their own board of directors. A set of employees at the two organizations, including the person filling this position, shares their time between the two organizations. This has no effect on salary or benefits.

DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS:

The Baltimore/Central Maryland Services Department responds to the needs of working class and immigrant communities by utilizing service provision models that pair the implementation of direct services and programs with wrap-around case management and community organizing. This includes community education and leadership development to build on community interest and assets, and working to impact trends that negatively affect low-income Latinos, immigrants, and working class families.  The Baltimore/Central Maryland Services department includes citizenship and legal services, tax/ITIN preparation and financial literacy counseling, workforce development, vocational training, ESOL courses, health and emergency social services, after school and school-time youth programming, and additional services.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Youth Education Programs Manager leads education initiatives, develops new programs, maintains critical relationships and works collaboratively with high level staff to maintain high quality of youth after-school and during school programs. This position reports directly to the Regional Director but works collaboratively with CASA’s Education Director and Center Staff to ensure quality program delivery, implementation and expansion of some K-12 programs. The Youth Education Programs Manager will coordinate with other managers and directors to ensure quality service delivery and alignment with CASA values and mission throughout programs they supervise, while maximizing opportunities to build power among program recipients through the development and implementation of progressive curricula and close coordination with CASA’s organizing department in an effort to cultivate and build leadership pathways for students. The Youth Education Programs Manager will also serve as a representative of CASA in developing and maintaining external community partners, and funder relationships.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include but not limited to:

Staff Supervision:

1.   Coordinate with services department managers and directors to ensure quality supervision of staff and program activities.

2.   Plan, participate, and execute regularly scheduled Youth Education team meetings, Manager meetings, and all staff meetings

Quality Member Services:

1.   Provide ongoing support, including supervision of staff, volunteers and AmeriCorp members to ensure members and program participants receive quality service.

2.   Coordinate with Regional Deputy Director, Director of Education, and Director of Data and Evaluation to collect and analyze surveys, monitor data and meet reporting requirements to ensure quality service delivery and meeting of program goals.

Leadership:

1.           Represent CASA at community, partner organizations and funders meeting

2.           Build and maintain strategic relationships at local, state, and regional levels and across various partner organizations.

3.           Lead in the design, implementation and evaluation of new programs and educational initiatives.

4.           Oversee the implementation of the Mi Espacio after-school program based in our Baltimore Welcome Center, and our standalone Cohort Escalera after-school programming with partner high schools, and support in-school SPIRT programming.

Coordination with departments and programs at CASA:

1.           Support the development and implementation of the expansion of Youth Programming and other Education programs across CASA’s Baltimore/Central MD region. Coordinate overall member and program participant experience for all programs

2.           Coordinate with subject matter experts within the Services department (managers and directors) to ensure consistent wrap around services for students and families, and continuous professional development opportunities for program staff that align with needs of program staff.

3.           Coordinate with Director of Education and Regional Directors to facilitate and participate in monthly all Center staff meetings to maximize collaboration

4.           Lead collaboration efforts to ensure program participants receive additional support, resources and services from other CASA departments.

Grant Development and Administration:

1.           Ensure the timely completion of reports (i.e. foundation, minutes, quarterly work product reports) by coordinating with the Director of Education, Regional Directors and Development team members.

2.           Design and collaborate in visioning for expansion of Education programs, and support in grant development and writing of possible funding grants.

3.           Ensure data, where appropriate, is captured in the Salesforce database program.

4.           Provide professional training as related to program needs to Center and program staff where needed.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:

●             Bachelor’s degree or higher

●             Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

●             At least 5 years of experience in Education related field including Youth programming and/or ESOL program delivery is preferred

●             Bilingual in Spanish and English, demonstrated excellent written and verbal skills

●             Excellent organizational and planning capacities.

●             Experience with grant proposal development and writing is a plus

●             Demonstrated interest in working with the immigrant and working class community.

●             The ideal candidate will be motivated, collaborative oriented and comfortable working independently in a small office environment.

●             Must have the ability to exercise good judgment. The position requires excellent writing skills, phone etiquette, computer literacy (Windows and Google environment), and good knowledge of the Internet.
