Mission

CASA of Wyoming Valley is a non-profit organization whose mission is to recruit, train and support community volunteers to provide whole child advocacy and to serve as the voice of abused and neglected children in the Luzerne and Wyoming County dependency court systems so that these children will be safe, secure and given the opportunity to thrive.

Summary

The Recruitment Coordinator will play a crucial role in building and maintaining a strong volunteer base for our organization. This position involves identifying, attracting and engaging potential volunteers to support our mission. The ideal candidate is passionate about community service and possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The Volunteer Recruiter will understand the role of a CASA volunteers to advocate in the best interest of children who’ve been abused and/or neglected and are now involved in the court system through no fault of their own.

The Recruitment Coordinator is supervised the Executive Director who is responsible for their performance evaluations, but will work closely with the Program Director and the Communications and Development Manager.

Qualifications

· Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred in a marketing, non-profit management or networking field.

· Experience in volunteer recruitment or community outreach.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Passion for community service and enthusiasm for engaging others.

· Willingness to travel in Luzerne and Wyoming Counties as needed.

Responsibilities

Recruitment Strategy Development:

  • Design and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract volunteers.
  • Work with the Communications and Development Manager to utilize various channels, including social media, community events and partnerships to promote the CASA volunteer opportunity.

Outreach and Networking:

· Build relationships with local organizations, schools and community groups to identify potential volunteers.

· Schedule speaking opportunities for the Executive Director and/or Program Director.

· Schedule and conduct virtual Information Sessions for potential CASA advocates.

Volunteer Engagement:

· Create a feedback loop for current volunteers to ensure a positive experience and gather feedback.

· Assist the Communication and Development Manager in the organization of Volunteer Appreciation Events and Volunteer Recruitment Events to recognize contributions and foster a sense of community within CASA.

Data Management:

· Prepare reports on volunteer applications and outcomes.

· Prepare reports on volunteer recruitment efforts and outcomes.

· Knowledge in Excel and Google Docs is preferred.

Collaboration:

· Work closely with program staff to understand the role of a CASA volunteer and the impact of the program.

· Work collaboratively with community partners to enhance the mission and vision of CASA of Wyoming Valley.

· Always maintain confidentiality with staff, volunteers, and court-appointed professionals.

· Actively participate in an annual performance review by proactively documenting and sharing milestones and achievements with your supervisor.

Training:

Complete the initial 30 hour National CASA/GAL volunteer pre-service training within six (6) months of hire.

  • Attend conferences and workshops as mandated.

Other Requirements:

Evening and weekend work is sometimes necessary.

  • Bi-weekly time sheets must be submitted to the Executive Director in a timely manner.
  • Position requires extensive background check:
  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Record Check
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance from the Department of Human Services
  • Fingerprint based Federal Criminal History (FBI) Record Check through the Department of Human Services
  • Social Security Number Verification
  • National Sex Offender Registry Check
  • Must sign a Confidentiality Statement and Conflict of Interest Disclosure.
  • Must have access to a vehicle, be willing and able to travel, and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Wages and Benefits:

This is a part-time non-exempt position. Expected work hours are 20-30 hours per week. This is a hybrid position and can be partially work from home based on the organizations policy following a 90 day probationary period.
