JOB TITLE: Volunteer Coordinator
JOB TYPE: Full-Time
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Volunteer Coordinator provides direct support to volunteer advocates who work with child abuse and neglect victims in the Juvenile Court system. Duties include training and screening new volunteers, assisting with case management, providing service referrals and recommendations, assisting volunteers with writing court reports, attending pre-hearing conferences and court hearings, and promoting CASA in the community. Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.
REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. At least 21 years of age
2. High School Diploma or Equivalent
3. Pass the required background check
4. Possess basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
5. Willing to learn and perform a variety of tasks
6. The ability to work cooperatively with various personalities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience with public speaking
2. Experience working with and recruiting volunteers
3. Associate degree or a combination of education and experience
OVERALL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Case management for victims of child abuse and neglect.
2. Assist volunteer advocates by providing referrals to other agencies and victim-service organizations and advocacy to the court for recommendations of services and placement.
3. Review information from the courts and the Department of Health and Human Services on the child victim’s case, placement, and services provided and discuss this information with the volunteer advocate.
4. Supervise volunteers and provide support for court accompaniment, team meetings to discuss services and placement, court reporting, etc.
5. Assign cases to volunteer advocates.
6. Collect and enter volunteer hours into CASA Manager
7. Maintain a minimum of monthly contact with volunteers.
8. Participate in weekly staff meetings or submit weekly reports if unable to meet weekly.
9. Assist with screening volunteer applicants including running background checks and completing reference checks.
10. Provide training to new and ongoing volunteer advocates, including supervision of 30 hours of volunteer pre-service training and a minimum of 12 hours of ongoing volunteer training per year.
11. Collaborate with law enforcement, County Attorneys, legal representatives, and case workers by providing recommendations for victim services.
12. Participate in training opportunities offered by the Nebraska CASA Association and other agencies specializing in child victims, including the impact of trauma.
ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS:
1. This position will work in-person in an office setting and attend hearings and meetings at the courthouse.
2. Complete the 30-hour volunteer pre-service training
3. Complete 12 hours of continuing education on an annual basis
4. Dress appropriately for duties being performed (Dress for Court, Casual for office only duties.)
WAGES AND BENEFITS:
1. Wages: $16.51/hr
2. Paid Time Off: 14 hours per month for full-time employees. Hours are prorated for employees who are less than full-time. Employees are not eligible to use PTO during the first three months of employment unless receiving prior approval from the executive director.
3. 14 Paid Holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Arbor Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving Day/the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas, and one floating holiday of the employee's choice.
4. Bereavement Leave: Up to 4 days in the event of a death of your immediate family which includes spouse, children, parents, siblings, or persons related by marriage.
5. Mileage: For travel to and from the Court House and other CASA appointments at the current Federal rate.
