Overview
The Executive Director will play a pivotal role in leading our organization towards achieving its strategic goals and objectives. This position requires a visionary leader who can effectively manage operations, drive business development, and enhance organizational performance. The Executive Director will work closely with the board of directors and staff to ensure the organization operates efficiently and effectively while fostering a culture of excellence.

General Administration

  • Develop the annual budget in conjunction with the Budget Committee.
  • Approve program structure to ensure compliance with all standards (National CASA/GAL, Kansas Office of Judicial Administration, Kansas CASA Association, Kansas 8th Judicial District).
  • Complete and submit certification materials to the Office of Judicial Administration.
  • Submit the annual program survey to the National CASA Association and the Office of Judicial Administration (OJA), as well as the 4-year National CASA Self-Assessment and six-month surveys to National CASA/GAL.
  • Assist with the annual financial audit.
  • Direct and manage general correspondence and administrative processes.
  • Oversee organizational operations and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.

Program Coordination

  • Supervise and evaluate staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Secure, monitor, and evaluate student interns.
  • Approve the training curriculum and volunteer materials to ensure high-quality advocacy and compliance with all required standards.
  • Approve program purchases and manage program-related budgets.
  • Maintain the court calendar to ensure all court dates are recorded, and court reports are submitted at least seven days in advance.
  • Coordinate and document all cases appointed to CASA and ensure efficient case management.
  • Match CASA cases with appropriate volunteers.
  • Initiate orders to rescind CASA appointments from cases after consultation.
  • Provide consultation and guidance to CASA volunteers, addressing concerns and offering solutions.
  • Assist volunteers in preparing court reports and provide final approval for submission.
  • File completed reports with the court and distribute copies to relevant parties.
  • Maintain and organize all court orders, reports, and case-related documents in CASA office files.
  • Attend court hearings whenever possible to provide support and representation.
  • Communicate effectively with court personnel, DCF representatives, and other involved agencies.
  • Attend case planning conferences as necessary.
  • Oversee the use of CASA Manager software, ensuring accurate data input and reporting.
  • Gather program data and statistics for evaluation and reporting purposes.
  • Provide information regarding crime victim compensation and victim rights to those served by the program.

Program Development and Evaluation

  • Approve program goals and oversee the development of initiatives to achieve those goals.
  • Maintain and update program processes to ensure peak efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Evaluate program performance and recommend improvements based on data and feedback.
  • Research and implement best practices for child advocacy programs to enhance service delivery.
  • Develop and execute long-term strategies for volunteer recruitment, retention, and engagement.
  • Regularly review and update volunteer training materials to reflect changes in policies and regulations.
  • Develop metrics and tools to assess the impact and outcomes of CASA services.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to identify emerging needs and align program priorities accordingly.

Community Education and Relations

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with court stakeholders, community members, and partner organizations.
  • Serve as the primary community representative for CASA, promoting its mission and programs.
  • Attend Kansas CASA Association meetings regularly to represent the organization.
  • Deliver public presentations to civic, social, religious, and educational groups in Geary, Morris, Marion, and Dickinson Counties, as well as Fort Riley.

Financial Management

  • Develop, manage, and monitor the organization’s annual budget in collaboration with the Board of Directors and Budget Committee.
  • Oversee all aspects of grant writing, including identifying funding opportunities, preparing compelling grant proposals, and submitting applications in a timely manner.
  • Manage awarded grants, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, tracking expenditures, and preparing and submitting accurate reports to funders.
  • Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks, including bookkeeping, payroll processing, accounts payable and receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for the Board of Directors and provide insights to guide financial decisions.
  • Assist with the annual financial audit by ensuring all required documentation is accurate and available.
  • Implement sound financial controls and practices to safeguard the organization’s resources.
  • Oversee the administration of program funds in alignment with organizational policies and funding guidelines.
  • Track grant deadlines, provide necessary financial data for all reports, and ensure successful grant management.
  • Ensure timely payment of all organizational expenses, including payroll taxes, insurance, and vendor payments.

Board Relations

  • Attend Board meetings to serve as the program/staff liaison.
  • Prepare and present the Executive Director’s Report for Board meetings.
  • Provide the Board with information, direction, and guidance on policy development and strategic initiatives.
  • Assist with Board member recruitment, orientation, and development.
  • Develop and implement strategies to strengthen Board engagement and participation.
  • Collaborate with the Board to establish measurable organizational goals and track progress.
  • Ensure Board members are equipped with the tools and information needed to effectively advocate for CASA's mission.
  • Provide ongoing training opportunities to enhance the Board's understanding of nonprofit governance and child advocacy issues.
  • Collaborate with the Board on a strategic plan for the program at least every three years.
  • Collaborate with the Board for all fundraising activities.
  • Collaborate with the Board with reviewing and updating all policies and procedures at least every three years and obtain approval of the changes from the Chief Judge.

This role is ideal for an experienced leader who is passionate about driving change and making a meaningful impact within the organization and the community it serves.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $56,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
