What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advocate Coordinator position at CASA of Vermilion and Edgar Counties?
Summary:
The Advocate Coordinator is responsible for coordinating recruiting, training, and supervision of volunteers serving as Court Appointed Special Advocates. The purpose of this position is to generate and support volunteers to assure that children assigned to the program receive appropriate advocacy services in accordance with Illinois Law (705 ILCS 405 Juvenile Court Act of 1987 Sec. 2-17.1).
Position Duties:
Volunteer Management
- Create and maintain volunteer files.
- Advise the Executive Director on the appropriateness, strengths and weakness of potential advocates.
- Coordinate pre-service and in-service training opportunities.
- Volunteer Supervision
- In conjunction with the Unassigned Case Manager match a case with the appropriate volunteer.
- Maintain a minimum monthly contact with each volunteer.
- Track volunteer and child service statistics utilizing OPTIMA.
- Track court dates and notify volunteers of upcoming hearings in their case.
- Assist volunteers with necessary correspondence and court reports.
- Monitor volunteers’ compliance with agency and national standards.
- Consult with appropriate DCFS and other human service professionals regarding client needs and volunteer assignments.
- Build an internal network of advocates to allow advocates to tap into the unique skills and talents of other advocates when working on a case, and provide an internal support network for advocates.
- Assist in planning and presenting volunteer appreciation activities.
Other Duties
- Act as an advocate on behalf of the agency for cases not currently assigned to advocates
- Assists Executive Director and Board of Directors with fundraising and outreach on an as needed basis
- Any other duties assigned at the discretion of the E.D.
- Bachelor's Degree Required, preference given to a human services related field
- Previous case management experience strongly preferred
- Previous training of adult learners strongly preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
