What are the responsibilities and job description for the Advocate Coordinator position at CASA of West Central Illinois?
CASA of West Central Illinois is seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Advocate Coordinator.
The Advocate Coordinator answers directly to the Executive Director. This position will primarily assist the director in attending all court hearings, as well as overseeing volunteers, and the management of cases assigned to volunteers.
Volunteer Recruitment, Training and Supervision:
· Oversee all court cases and attend court hearings for cases assigned to advocates.
· Provide written notes for cases for CASA master files.
· Remind all advocates of upcoming reports due and assist advocates with report writing.
· Maintain case files (hard copy and by using computer case management software).
· Provide advocate support, educational advocacy, and court report delivery.
· Ensure advocate policies are followed in hearings.
· Provide advocacy for children in the absence of an assigned advocate.
· Supervise all assigned advocates directly and their cases.
· Assist with events and fundraisers in our four-county service area.
· Assist the E.D. in the recruitment of volunteers and volunteer retention.
· Assist the E.D. in the coordination of ongoing training of volunteer advocates.
· The Advocate Coordinator will perform other duties as determined by the E.D.
Qualifications and Skills:
· The ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds, communicate effectively, prioritize agency needs, adapt to changing circumstances, and maintain a high-level of confidentiality is required. A background check is required.
· Prior non-profit experience or an associate degree in a social services or related field is preferred. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required. Basic computer, internet and word processing skills are also required.
This is a 30 hour per week, mostly day-time hours position. Flexibility in scheduling is a must, however, as agency needs vary. This position will be based in our Galesburg, IL office. Must be able to travel to McDonough, Warren, Henderson, and Knox Counties as the work requires.
