Wage band range $66,560.00 - $85,000.00 annually. However, starting pay is ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity. Position is eligible for Bilingual pay incentive.
Under the direction of the Safe Alternatives for Treating Youth (SAFTY) Program Manager, assists in the training and development of all SAFTY Crisis Care Specialists referred to Casa Pacifica SAFTY program. The Lead Crisis Care Specialist carries out the mission of Casa Pacifica as it relates to individualized crisis interventions as needed at a child's home, school, hospital, or other community setting. Responsible for training, coaching, mentoring, developing SAFTY team members. Meets regularly with Program Manager regarding clients, programmatic issues, interventions, staff supervision and team development issues. Assists SAFTY specialists in the implementation of services for clients and families. Maintains a small caseload of clients as assigned by the Program Manager. Will be responsible for holding crisis line shifts as needed. Will support with back up support to staff in the field and/or on the crisis line. Support the SAFTY Program for the entire Santa Barbara County.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (illustrated by typical activities):
- Maintains programmatic oversight of SAFTY program.
- Provides monthly programmatic supervision with staff to ensure staff are complying with program policies/procedures. This will include in office as well as in vivo supervision in the field.
- Supports Program Manager with providing programmatic training and progressive discipline oversight for SAFTY employees as needed.
- Collaborates with the management team regarding evaluations.
- Participates in the oversight of SAFTY crisis plans, safety/prevention plans, and follow-up care for SAFTY clients. Ensures documentation is completed in a timely manner and charts are kept current with necessary information, which includes reviewing AVATAR crisis log enters consistently.
- Participates in the interviewing/hiring process for all SAFTY employees.
- Participates in supervision of other community based staff on an as-needed basis.
- Conduct and write up Psychosocial Clinical Assessments and diagnosis using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) and develops treatment plans as needed.
- Expected to be scheduled on-call shifts on the line as needed to support Program needs.
- As approved by Program Manager, attends community meetings and presentations assist in the dissemination of knowledge regarding the program and provide trainings to Community Based Organizations.
- Acts as a Liaison with county partners and other CBO’s by attending county meetings as requested by the Program Manager.
- Will participate in a rotating on-call schedule as a backup Supervisor to Crisis Care Specialists with the Program Manager and Clinical Supervisors. On-call hours will include alternating weekly/weekend rotation to support direct care staff in their responses to crisis calls.
- Reviews and signs crisis notes from on call shifts in which the Lead is acting as the backup Supervisor for any staff who need notes reviewed and meet the agency’s requirement of co-signing notes within 48 hours of receiving the note from a staff.
- Maintains billing requirements/productivity set forth by your Program Manager.
- Maintains a small caseload of clients as assigned by the Program Manager. Will be responsible for holding crisis line shifts as needed.
- Will support with back up support to staff in the field and/or on the crisis line throughout Santa Barbara County.
- Maintains confidentiality and boundaries in all matters within and outside of the organization with respect to personnel, operations, and children.
- Continues to develop program to exceed standards of practice.
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Doctoral or Master’s Degree with experience working with severely emotionally disturbed adolescents doing family assessments and treatment, and behavior management; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensed or license-eligible required, and active license/registration with the BBS/BOP and be in good standing required.
Have been consistently working in the position of a Crisis Care Specialist or as direct care staff within Casa Pacifica for at least nine months. The staff must not have an active train coach or corrective action in order to be considered for the position.
CREDENTIALS: Community First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, 5150/5585 certificate, Medi-Cal Documentation training required.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use various computer software. Knowledge of Title 22, Division 6 licensing requirements. Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills. Strong human relations skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
