Wage band range $17.00 to $22.00 per hour; however, it is ultimately determined by contract obligations, the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity.
We have an exciting opportunity to work in our special education classrooms to implement the educational program with an emphasis on behavior management/intervention and tutorial instruction.
Casa Pacifica’s Non-Public Special Education School (NPS) is a WASC accredited, diploma-granting institution serving children, adolescents, and transition-aged youth in grades 1 - 12 dealing with complicated issues such as: emotional disturbance, specific learning disabilities and other health impairments.
We are a fully certified with commendations by the State Department of Education, our NPS serves children/youth ages 8 through 18 placed in the Residential Treatment Program or Assessment, Stabilization, and Permanency Center as well as day students from surrounding communities.
We provide a safe, relationship-based, therapeutic and academically enriching environment with a focus on personalized academic interventions that fill gaps in critical academic areas. In addition to clinical services, Casa Pacifica uses Collaborative Problem Solving, Life Space Crisis Intervention (LSCI), and SAFE Environments to build relationships and help children reach their goals. We use evidence based practices to teach skills and equip students with self-confidence, positive character traits and problem solving strategies, so that they can successfully transition to a less restrictive setting as quickly as appropriate.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement direct instructional support to individual and/or groups of students, and attend classes with the student, as designated in the IEP
- Adapt classroom activities, assignments and materials to provide an opportunity for all special education students to participate in general education classroom activities
- Provide verbal and/or written feedback of student observations and student classroom support for assisting credentialed teacher in evaluating students
- Collect data and maintain records on each student’s progress toward IEP goals
- Assist credentialed teacher with clerical functions such as correcting papers, creating lesson plans, making copies, helping with progress reports, adapting tests and assignments
- Act as a cooperative team member in working with all Casa Pacifica staff, community, students and families
- Model appropriate social skills, participation, and problem-solving skills
- Assist in managing student behavior by applying proactive and positive strategies when helping a student with behavioral concerns
- Implement behavior support plans as designed by IEP team to help students
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the administration or credentialed staff
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Associates Degree required, or bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
- Must have aptitude to deal with severely emotionally disturbed adolescents in a residential setting.
- Must have good working understanding of child and adolescent development, behavior management and group process
- Valid California Driver's License, California vehicle registration & vehicle insurance with excellent driving record
