Working under the guidance of the Vintner and Winemaker, the Winemaker’s Assistant will engage in hands-on production tasks ranging from fruit to bottling. This role demands strong attention to detail, strict adherence to established winemaking protocols, and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organization. Based on your experience, you may also take on more independent winemaking responsibilities, with opportunities to contribute your creative input as an essential aspect of the role.
2 years of experience in a similar position is preferred, but not required. This position offers opportunities for career growth and development.
Assist with:
- Inventory and Reporting
- Processing of grapes during harvest to include pressing/crushing
- Fermentation procedures to include inoculations, punch downs, pump overs, racking, and additions
- Maintain cleanliness of facility, equipment, and working spaces
- Tank and barrel cleaning
- Filtering of finished wine
- Available throughout Harvest Season
- Vineyard work, to include planting new vines, replacing vines, pruning, weeding and suckering, shoot tying, shoot positioning, canopy management, wire lifting, hand harvesting, etc.
- Special projects given by management
Requirements:
- Strong organizational, problem solving, and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Must be able to skillfully navigate Microsoft Excel
- Must be able to work extended hours and weekends
- Must be 21 or older
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders and walk on uneven ground and wet surfaces
- Must be comfortable with heights
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to operate in small spaces
- Forklift experience preferred but not required
- Be available for the Harvest work schedule of 6-7 days per week and 10 hours a day
