Casa Serena is a residential substance use treatment center for women only. We are currently looking to add creative, compassionate and innovative individuals to the team in the position of Behavioral Health Program Assistant!
As Santa Barbara's only licensed and accredited treatment program for women, we deliver high quality integral care in a collaborative team environment. Primary Purpose and Function
The Culinary Arts Coordinator facilitates meal preparation by providing appetizing and nutritious meals for clients, as well as special events as needed. This position is responsible for daily meal prep, food purchasing, food and supply inventory, and maintaining the kitchen according to county health codes and ServeSafe standards.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Preparing all meals (breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner) for clientsPrepping all meals to be prepared / reheated by program staff during CAC’s days offCollaborating with supervisor to create a weekly menu for all meals, adapting to client food allergies and preferences as neededCreating shopping list and managing supply purchases to operate kitchen, menu development and other dutiesConducting grocery shopping trips weekly and as neededAdhering to budget guidelines as indicated by censusOverseeing refrigerator, freezer, and pantry inventory spreadsheetResponsible for safe food standards including sanitation, food temperatures, refrigerator temperatures, food handling, and proper food storage and labellingResponsible for maintaining a cleanly kitchen environment including bussing and washing dishes and cleaning kitchen equipmentEnsuring kitchen safety by adhering to facility sharps protocolCommunicating information to the appropriate personnel about unsafe conditions and defective equipmentProviding food for holidays and special events as neededRequirements :

One year of chef / cook experienceOne year of treatment center experience preferredFood Handler's Certification (servsafe certified) preferredOften required to stand and sit; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlOccasionally lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and in some instances up to 40 poundsExperience in a behavioral health treatment facility preferredValid driver’s license, clean driving record and insurable by our insurance carrier
