The Community Overdose Outreach Coordinator will lead efforts to reduce overdoses and fatalities through community engagement, education, and direct outreach. This role focuses on coordinating harm reduction initiatives, distributing naloxone (Narcan), building relationships with at-risk populations, and partnering with community organizations to strengthen response efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate outreach programs aimed at preventing overdoses.
- Distribute naloxone and provide training on its administration to individuals, families, and community partners.
- Engage directly with individuals who use drugs, including those experiencing homelessness or incarceration, offering harm reduction education and resources.
- Coordinate with EMS, healthcare providers, public health agencies, and law enforcement to identify and respond to overdose hotspots.
- Maintain accurate data on outreach activities, including naloxone distribution, referrals, and client engagement.
- Facilitate or support public awareness campaigns on opioid safety, overdose prevention, and harm reduction.
- Provide training and technical assistance to community organizations and stakeholders on best practices for overdose prevention.
- Attend community events and meetings to represent the program and foster partnerships.
- Assist individuals in accessing treatment, recovery support services, and other community resources.
- Prepare reports and grant documentation as required by funders or public health agencies.
Working Conditions:
- Flexible schedule including some evenings or weekends.
- Field-based work with office and community-based components.
- May involve outreach in shelters, encampments, jails, or clinical settings.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Associates or Bachelors Degree (Preferred)
- Strong understanding of substance use, addiction, and harm reduction principles.
- Lived experience or peer support certification is highly valued.
- Comfortable working with vulnerable populations and in non-traditional settings.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
